RACE DETAILS
The filly Maid of Athens was in such demand that she was made the odds-on favourite and made virtually all of the running to justify the odds laid on her. Rattleaway made a game attempt to challenge her as they approached the bend, but could get no closer than the 2 length margin which she still held at the line. Richard The First made no impression on the leading pair and was ‘done with’ on reaching the chains, but still stayed on gamely to be only a length behind Rattleaway at the line.

The winner was receiving 8 lbs from Rattleaway, but won in convincing style by 4 lengths.
